Bent lamination table.

My wife and i decided we needed a new dining table and we wanted something a little different. Bent lamination just introduces the element of curving the laminate. In veneering the layers are oriented in an alternating fashion while in laminating the layers are oriented in the same direction. Lamination is different than veneering.

The last couple months i have been making a new table for my wife and i. The table is made from ash. With glue between each lamination a press is used to bend the bundle of laminations around a form. Once the glue dries the workpiece will hold it s new shape.

So the first order of business is to build the form followed by cutting the wood into lamination strips. Bentwood tables my awareness of steam bent and laminated wood began with a wooden tennis racquet which i still think is a beautiful artifact. The table looks great in our home and would look great in yours too. So i set to work making a diy wood dining room table with a bent lamination feature.
